KAOKALAND, NORTHERN NAMIBIA

This is a guided 4 x 4 self-drive tour through the unforgettable beauty and remoteness of Northern Namibia. Join us across the plains, mountains and valleys, along dry riverbeds and the van Zyl’s pass, the Marienfluss and the Hartmann’s Valley and the renowned Etosha National Park.

The tour starts at Otjiwarongo.  We travel northwards to Etosha’s Fort Namutoni rest camp. We then transect Etosha westwards before heading north to the Kunene River which forms the border with Angola. The next port of call is the stunning Epupa Falls, then southwards to the Marienfluss via the infamous van Zyl’s pass. Please note The section over the Van Zyl’s pass is for serious experienced 4×4 enthusiasts only. It can be very challenging. We have an alternative route which will be less demanding and still expose you to the magic of the region. Please indicate your preference when booking this route.

We spend time in this remote but beautiful part of the world, winding towards Puros in the hope of seeing the desert elephants and other wildlife including oryx, springbuck, giraffe and a unique birdlife. The local Himba people will occasionally make an appearance but this is a very remote region where the silence can be deafening!

At Palmwag we head east back to Otjiwarongo where the tour ends. You are welcome to accompany us back to Windhoek, capital of Namibia.
